Being Mean Online
AI as a bullying tool
With AI apps, you can create convincingly real fake images of real people in seconds. Some use this to bully classmates: fake images in WhatsApp groups, manipulated voice messages, or fabricated chat logs. This isn't just mean — it's also illegal.
Recognize and react properly
If an image or video looks too perfect or too crazy, it could be an AI fake. Check: Did the person actually consent? Would they be happy about it? If you have doubts, don't share it. Every share makes the bullying worse.
Fight cyberbullying actively
Save evidence (screenshots) but don't share them further. Report the content on the platform. Talk to trusted people: parents, teachers, or helplines. Stand by those affected — looking away helps the bully.
Detective Tip: Cyberbullying can involve criminal offenses including defamation and harassment — this applies online too!
